Gau Franconia (German: ''Gau Franken'') was an administrative division of Nazi Germany in Middle Franconia, Bavaria, from 1933 to 1945. From 1926 to 1933, it was the regional subdivision of the Nazi Party for this area.
==History==
The ''Gau'' was established in 1929 under the leadership of Julius Streicher, who was then ''Gauleiter'' of the ''Gau Nürnberg-Fürth''.
Streicher was disgraced in 1940 but no new ''Gauleiter'' was appointed until November 1944, when Karl Holz took the post.
